How to Use Leverage to Get More Traffic, Sales, and Subscribers

How to Use Leverage to Get More Traffic, Sales, and Subscribers

“Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” That is what Ancient Greek mathematician, scientist, and inventor Archimedes is often quoted as saying, referring to the power of a lever; the principle of leverage.

Of course in science leverage refers to the concept of moving an object with less force, but there are many other applications where we can apply this powerful force. Many people in the financial world are more familiar with the use of leverage in financial situations, in which you use leverage to get higher returns with a lower investment risk (such as using debt to finance an investment or using an option to control a stock).

Simply put, I think the most general way of thinking about leverage is as a concept of getting more with less. In the case of online marketing, this could be getting more products, traffic, and sales with less of your own time, energy, or money.
When it comes to online marketing, there are three key areas you need to focus on: lead generation (getting traffic), lead capture (list building), and lead conversion (making sales). In this and next week’s articles, you will discover three powerful ways you can use leverage to build your list, get more traffic, and generate more sales.

Leverage Other Lists

One of the best ways to use leverage in your online business is to do a joint venture with other business owners in your niche. When it comes to traffic generation, this is by far one of the most leveraged ways you can get massive amounts of traffic to your site quickly. In particular, you want to do joint ventures with business owners who have a large email marketing list.

Usually the most common form of a joint venture with another list owner is to do an ad swap. In other words, you would send an email to your list promoting the JV partner and they would send an email to their list promoting you. This is one of the fastest ways to get traffic to your website and build a list, and it’s as simple as having an email sent.

The joint venture partner has already spent the time, energy, money, and effort to get traffic to their site, build their list, and establish a relationship with their readers. All you have to do is ask them to promote you to their list with an email and you can instantly benefit by getting traffic from their list as well as a recommendation. Is that leverage or is that leverage?

So how do you find potential joint venture partners who have email lists? Simply do a search on Google for keywords related to your niche plus the word “newsletter,” “ezine,” or “e-newsletter.” For example, if I was in the credit repair niche, I would search Google using “credit repair newsletter.”

What if you don’t have a large list to do cross promotions with? Just start small and build from there. If you’re just starting out with a list of a few hundred or few thousand, do cross promotions with similarly sized list owners. After a few of those, you’ll have a bigger list where you can do JVs with bigger list owners. Once you set this into motion, it grows exponentially.

Stay tuned for next week’s article, where we talk about leveraging other websites and leveraging your own products.

A+ post, this is the EXACT method I live by with my business. Simply find JV partners and work together on sending traffic, rinse and repeat until it’s basically a habit. Ofcourse it takes it times time, but it’s well worth it, you have to start somewhere :)

I had the term ‘leverage’ many times before but today I really understood it!
Also the exchange of lists and how to search for JV partners was quite useful. You make it look so simple!
Thank you!

Thanks for the good feedback.
JV partners is gotta be one of the best sources of traffic outside your own in house list.
