How to Use Leverage to Get More Traffic and Sales, Part 2

How to Use Leverage to Get More Traffic and Sales, Part 2

Last week we talked about the power of leverage and how to leverage other people’s lists to get more traffic, sales, and subscribers. This week we will talk about leveraging other websites and leveraging your own products.

Leverage Other Websites
Another powerful strategy is to leverage off of other people’s websites. The fact is that there are already websites out there that have extremely high rankings and get a lot of traffic on a daily basis. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just plug right in and get a piece of their traffic and visitors?

The good news is that you can, and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

You see, the reason why these popular websites related to your market are ranked so highly in the search engines and get a lot of traffic is because they put out a lot of quality content on a regular basis. Constantly creating new content takes a lot of time, energy, and effort. This is where you come in.

Rather than creating all of the content themselves, many of these websites accept content from other people in the form of articles, special reports, and blog posts. Usually in exchange for providing quality original content, the website will credit you for the article and link back to your website. You could get hundreds, even thousands, of visitors from another website simply by supplying them with an article to publish on their site.

Of course, we want to make sure we’re getting a good bang for our buck, or in this case a good return on time investment, so how do you find the best sites to submit content to?

Simple! Just do a search on Google using keywords related to your niche. Google will return the top-ranked sites related to those terms. I can guarantee you that any site that makes it to the first page or two of Google for your related keywords is getting a lot of traffic. Go ahead and visit those sites and contact the site owner. Offer to create highly valuable original content in exchange for a link back to your site. You’ll be surprised at how many people are open to the idea of having you create content for them, and you’ll love the amount of traffic you get back to your site in return.

Leverage Your Own Products
The third habit of highly successful Internet entrepreneurs is that they use leverage in their online business. Just like there are many ways to leverage off of other people, you can also leverage off of your own efforts. Let’s look at one way you can use leverage when creating products.

When it comes to product creation, I like to work once to create a product and then leverage that into several different products, formats, and price points. It’s a different approach than what most online marketers do. Let me give you an example.
Most marketers will start out creating a low-end product by writing an ebook. Then they’ll create a mid-level product, perhaps by recording an audio course. Then they may create a high-ticket product by doing a video recording of a live event. Three different products, created on three separate occasions.

Now consider this scenario. I start out by creating a video or recording a live event, which is my high-ticket product. I then extract the audios from the video and use that for my mid-priced audio version of the course. I then get the audios transcribed into an ebook, which I use for my low-end entry product. In this scenario, I worked once and created three separate products, in three separate formats, at three separate price points. Now that’s what I call leverage!

In Conclusion
In these two articles, we talked about three specific ways you can use leverage in your online business, and make no mistake about it, these are some of the most powerful ways you can use leverage to get more traffic, build your list, and sell more products. You can use the strategies discussed here to identify new list owners and new high-traffic websites to joint venture with to get more and more traffic and to build a longer and longer list. Once you start getting more traffic and growing your list, you’ll find the product leverage strategy to be one of your most valuable online skills.

Action Steps:
- Find other business owners in your niche with whom you could do a joint venture.
- Seek out those with a similar list size who would be willing to cross-promote.
- Approach popular websites in your market for which you could contribute articles in exchange for links.
- Create your next product with an eye to capitalizing on the various potential price points.
