Product Creation in a Snap
It surprises me how many people are afraid to create an info product. The social proof that info products are profitable is everywhere. The biggest proof is ClickBank. ClickBank, which is essentially a portal for digital info products, has paid out over $1.3 billion to product creators in the last 10 years. That’s $130 million every year, and the average person has never heard of them, which is just crazy. But this article is not about ClickBank, it’s about actually getting your hands dirty and creating an info product.
So let’s start by overcoming the biggest objection. The “I don’t have an idea” objection. There are millions of niches out there, and although I stopped counting at 3,274 niches, I’m absolutely certain there are tons more. A niche can be just about anything, and where there’s a niche, there’s an info product just waiting to be created.
But first, you’ve got to promise me something. Promise me you will not write an ebook about making $1000 a day online unless you’ve actually made $1000 in a day online. There is a huge misconception that the only way to make a lot of money online is to sell products about making a lot of money online. Trust me, that’s the last thing you should be doing… unless you’ve actually done it of course. In reality, the vast majority of people who are successful selling “make money online” products are people who made money in other niches first.
Do you want to know the fastest way to come up with a product idea? Just look around you. Here’s what I get by looking around my home office:
~ First, I’m writing this article in Notepad: “101 Notepad Tricks”
~ In my browser is a parked GoDaddy page: “How To Save Big on GoDaddy.com”
~ At the bottom of my Firefox browser are a number of plugin icons: “How To Turbocharge Your Firefox Browser”
~ My dog is lying at my feet: “How To Stop Your Dog From Snoring”
~ In the corner is an exercise bike:”How To Get Top Dollar for Unused Exercise Equipment” Or: “How To Dry Clothes on Unused Exercise Equipment”
~ On the shelf next to me are family pictures: “How To Digitize and Share Framed Pictures”
~ On my desk is a receipt for a new set of tires: “How To Negotiate the Best Deal on Tires”
Now these seven ideas are totally random and a couple of them are jokes, but they all emphasize the point. Ideas for info products are virtually limitless, and they are right in front of you. So don’t tell me you don’t have any ideas. (Yes, you can use mine if you don’t.)
The next objection is, “I don’t know how to get started.” Well…
Do you know how to use Google?
Do you have Microsoft Word?
Do you know an expert in your niche?
Do you have a video camera or tape recorder?
Do you have $100 to hire someone?
If you answered yes to these questions, you have the tools you need to get started. Here is how to create an info product, step by step:
- Compile your own research on Google and enter it in Microsoft Word.
- Find an expert and ask them related questions.
- Record your interviews and have them transcribed.
- Outsource a designer to clean up your copy, add a header graphic, and PDF the document for you.
And presto, you have an info product.
The third biggest objection is, “I don’t know how to sell it.”
The obvious choice here is to get a ClickBank account, pay the $49.95 activation fee, and set up a sales page. If you don’t know how to do all this, hire someone to do it, or buy an info product that will help you.
The point of this article is that you just have to jump in and do it. Your fear is unfounded; it can be done, and you can do it. You might not have a huge hit right away, but you will gain valuable experience for your next info product.
Finally, do you want to know how to stop a dog from snoring? Wake him up.
